Seven Eight Random Things

I’ve done so many of these things (including the 100 things about me list) that I’m running out of things to say. I did this “Seven things” meme back in the summertime, so I’m reposting it with one new random thing instead of coming up with eight new ones.

Tagged by Ontario Emperor. Rules:

1. Link to your tagger and post these rules.
2. List EIGHT random facts about yourself.
3. Tag EIGHT people at the end of your post and list their names.
4. Let them know they’ve been tagged.

1. I’m really short. All the women in my family are short, but I think I’m the shortest. I just barely crack 5 feet.

2. To date, my longest relationship has lasted 3 years and approximately three months. I’m looking to break that record this October. Three years and six months. Record broken. Woohoo!

3. I slept with a teddy bear well into my adult life.

4. I have weird fingernails. My nail beds are wide, and the nails flatten out when they get long. It looks bizarre, so I keep them short. (I had acrylic nails for a while, in my 20s, but the upkeep got to be both too expensive and too time-consuming for my taste)

5. I’m pretty low-maintenance, appearance-wise. I wear little (if any) makeup, I hate spending more than 5 minutes on my hair, and I’m not into fashion at all.

6. I have a weakness for sandals. I don’t buy expensive shoes, but my sandal collection is larger than it probably needs to be.

7. I hate, hate, hate “stepping in wet.” If my socks get wet (by stepping on a wet bath mat, for example), they must be changed immediately. I do everything in my power to avoid this circumstance.

um…

8.When I was in college, I joined a sorority. Oddly enough, one of the things you seem to do quite a lot of in a sorority is sing. A group of us named ourselves the “tone deaf club.” I am not tone deaf, and I know this…but many of the women in my sorority were really good singers and that intimidated me. I am slowly but surely overcoming my fear.

I have somewhat more interesting answers for the five random things meme.

I’m breaking the rules and not tagging. If anyone does choose to participate, please post a comment linking to your answers!

Does sitting by a nice cozy fire, with a cup of hot tea/chocolate, and a book you can read for hours even when your eyes grow red and dry and you look sort of scary sitting there with your insomniac appearance? Then you fit this category perfectly! You love the power of the written word and it’s eloquence; and you may like to read/write poetry or novels. You contribute to the smart people of today’s society, however you can probably be overly-critical of works.

It’s okay. I understand.

Bold what you have read, italicize books you’ve started but couldn’t* finish, and strike through books you hated. Add an asterisk* to those you’ve read more than once. Underline those on your TBR list.

Adventures in memeland

I have lots of things for tomorrow…but for today, a meme that Deoris (fifthhouse) tagged me on.

Rulez: Here are the rules which must be posted on your blog if you are tagged:

1. Link to your tagger and post these rules. My “tagger”: http://fifthhouse.livejournal.com/

2. Share 7 facts about yourself: some random, some weird.

  • I don’t like mayonnaise. At all. I don’t eat any “summer salads” because of this.
  • I stopped growing when I was 13. I hoped I’d keep going, but no such luck.
  • My most comfy pants say “I love sleeping.”
  • When I was a little girl, I secretly kind of wished I wore glasses. Little did I know that wish would come true when I grew up…
  • I used to be powerless against a ringing phone. I couldn’t stand to let a phone ring and not pick it up. I’ve gotten over this, but it still drives me crazy to listen to a phone ring.
  • When I made my list of possible future careers, “teacher” was never on it.
  • I’m not much of a coffee drinker. I am, however, completely addicted to the Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks. Curse you, Starbucks!*

3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post and list their names (linking to them).

Sunday stuff (and a meme)

So while I was at home over the weekend, I learned that Bigfoot has been sighted in Elk County.

I also attended my cousin’s wedding. More on that tomorrow, but for now, some photos are up here.

And now, a meme, courtesy of Samantha.

First, the rules:
There are a set of questions below that are all of the form, “The best [subgenre] in [genre] is…”.Copy the questions, and before answering them, you may modify them in a limited way, carrying out no more than two of these operations:

You can leave them exactly as is.

You can delete any one question.

You can mutate either the genre, medium, or subgenre of any one question.
For instance, you could change “The best time travel novel in SF/Fantasy is…” to “The best time travel novel in Westerns is…”, or “The best time travel movie in SF/Fantasy is…”, or “The best romance novel in SF/Fantasy is…”.

You can add a completely new question of your choice to the end of the list, as long as it is still in the form “The best [subgenre] in [genre] is…”.

You must have at least one question in your set, or you’ve gone extinct, and you must be able to answer it yourself, or you’re not viable.

Then answer your possibly mutant set of questions. Please do include a link back to the blog you got them from, to simplify tracing the ancestry, and include these instructions. Finally, pass it along to any number of your fellow bloggers. Remember, though, your success as a Darwinian replicator is going to be measured by the propagation of your variants, which is going to be a function of both the interest your well-honed questions generate and the number of successful attempts at reproducing them.

Seven Random Things

I was tagged by Ensie. Seven random things about me:

1. I’m really short. All the women in my family are short, but I think I’m the shortest. I just crack 5 feet.

2. To date, my longest relationship has lasted 3 years and approximately three months. I’m looking to break that record this October.
