A big old pile of crazy

That’s what I feel like right about now.

There is SO MUCH to do. I know there are people clamoring to hear more about the bachelorette party…and to them, I say…it was an awesomely fun evening with a bunch of awesomely fun ladies. I dressed up like a cheerleader, wore a sash, and had too many margaritas. Check out Jen’s photos (plus the few pathetic ones I took) on flickr. 😀

The weekend was a whirlwind of activity. Visited with Rand’s family on the 4th, and then I headed to PA on Saturday morning. The dress is fabulous, and is currently hanging from my curtain rod with a sheet draped over it.

I came dangerously close to ordering a new pair of shoes today. Because suddenly, I want sandals. I’m worried that my poor little toes will sweat to death inside my adorable pink suede shoes. Sigh.

Since Saturday, I’ve spent way too much money on stupid crap. Blah. I guess this is what happens.

I got my hair cut last week, and I’m not sure I like it. :-/ I went out and had my color done today, and I like that, but I’m feeling meh about the style. I’m just hoping cousin Niki can do something cute with it on Saturday.

I haven’t posted much in the way of updates on the wedding blog (I’ll have to do one final one this week), but I continue to post the 27 things I love about Rand. Do check that out if you haven’t yet!

Okay, back to the crazy for me. I’m trying to poke my head around the ‘net every now and then, but…well…

😉

Happy Monday!

A little bit of this, a little bit of that

Whenever I start writing “a little bit of…” I always start singing “Mambo #5” in my head. Is it wrong for me to kind of like that song? 😉

Ahem. Anyway, it’s been a busy week. Grading? Almost done…yeah, yeah, I’ve got class in an hour and a half. What’s your point? I’ve ventured out of the apartment to grade papers a couple of times this week. Yesterday, I walked down the street to Starbucks and got myself a sugar-free cinnamon dolce latte, sat with my shiny new iPod (which I did find a wee bit of time to play with this week–more on that later) and graded papers. It was most productive.

While I was at Starbucks, a random guy came up to me to tell me that he liked my hair!

“I love girls with short hair,” he said, “and I just had to tell you that yours is adorable.”

Aww. *Blush*

He also said that he noticed I had a ring and figured I was engaged. “Yeah,” I said. “I am.”

“That figures,” he said. Then he told me to have a great day, and left. I feel for the guy…I’ve totally been there…but random compliments are never a bad thing!

Today, I spent some time grading at Caffe Aroma before meeting Rand for lunch. We went to Tru Teas on Elmwood, which is a really cute place. I’d love to go there for high tea sometime! (I’ve been to high tea exactly once–in Scotland) I had the ginger carrot soup and an order of hummus with flatbread. Yummy!

Today, I had my manicure and pedicure. While I was having my toes done, I spent some time rereading The House on Mango Street, which I’m going to start teaching next week. I have, so far, made zero progress on preparing lessons.

And, I think I can talk about this now publicly…Rand and I are going to be closing on a town house in approximately a month. Can we talk about how crazy I’m going to be for the next couple of months? Teaching? Moving? Planning a wedding? Ack! Good thing I’ve got yoga to keep me somewhat grounded and sane. (Being back in class this week was awesome, and I SO needed it.)

Okay, I have to run. These last few papers aren’t gonna grade themselves…

OMG so much to do

Gah.

Where’s the vacation part of this week? Hmmm? Sigh. Here’s what’s on my to-do list:

1. Write TC article due tomorrow (this is pretty much done, but may need some tweaks…)

2. Work on invitations (I’ve done a little bit. the reply cards are gonna be a nightmare, b/c the printer doesn’t seem to want to print them straight)

3. Work on getting a final for-real guest list including all necessary contact info.

4. Grade a bunch of papers (*weep*)

5. Get together w/my little b/c it’s her birthday this week.

6. Plan lessons and gather materials for next week.

7. Go to two yoga classes, b/c I missed last week.

8. Get a mani/pedi.

9. Wash springy-summery clothes I took out of storage.

10. Play with iPod.

11. Walk every day.

I’ve about given up hope of ever catching up on the blog posts I meant to write…but I have uploaded photos!

That’s all for now. Happy Monday!

Random thoughts for a Wednesday

1. The Cinnamon Dolce Latte at Starbucks is no Pumpkin Spice, but it is an acceptable substitute. Plus, it comes in a sugar-free version that’s not at all bad.

2. I actually found Britney Spears genuinely funny on HIMYM this week.

3. I’m going out to eat at Taste of India shortly, and I am SO EXCITED. 🙂

4. There was something else that escaped my mind the moment I opened this post.

5. It was almost spring-ish here today. Hurrah for the sun!

6. Our wedding is in 108 days…rapidly approaching double-digit territory! (don’t forget to check my wedding blog for updates! y’know, if you’re into that sort of thing…)

7. My car hit 100,000 miles this weekend. I took a pic of the odometer, but I haven’t uploaded it yet.

And that’ll do it for me…Happy hump day, everyone!

Music poll

I posted a wedding music poll over at my wedding blog. I know some of you have already responded to this question, but if you haven’t, come on over and tell me what you think! 🙂

Busy

I h ave a million things to blog…okay, a million is probably an exaggeration, but still.

I took a bunch of pictures over the weekend that I have yet to upload. Soon.

Visiting with the family was good. It was my grandpa’s birthday, and so we had a little family get-together. My aunt and cousin who live in Maryland were there, so it was great to see them.

Of course, I left some things behind…a hairbrush, and a book that I was reading. Feh.

Also slightly annoying…I had been hoping my wedding dress would arrive before the weekend so that I could go and try it on. Alas, the bridal shop called me *yesterday* to tell me that my dress had come in. (You can read about my ongoing shoe quest over at my wedding blog, should you care about that sort of thing…) Rand and I have been plugging away at the wedding details, which I will write about in more detail over there.

We stayed up to watch the Oscars Sunday night, and I wasn’t as bored as I thought I would be. I may go into more detail, but here are the highlights (as far as I’m concerned):

  • The musical numbers. Loved all of them. I haven’t seen any of the movies that had songs nominated (Enchanted, August Rush, Once), but I want to see them all!
  • Jon Stewart bringing the woman who won for Once back onstage to give her acceptance speech since she was so rudely played off. Awesome.
  • Diablo Cody! Whoo! She made me cry.
  • Jennifer Garner being the picture of grace and style. She looked so adorably excited when Diablo Cody won.
  • The cute French girl winning best actress.
  • Ratatouille winning best animated feature.

Hmm…there’s probably more, but I’ve already forgotten. Sadly, I forgot all about joining Eden’s Oscar group and making picks this year. I tried to log in and do it at 8 on Sunday, but I was denied. Denied! Ah well.

Worked yesterday, and am working today. Work is good, but I’m so tired. Want sleep.

And now, I must prepare for a room full of 6th graders. Later!
