*seen multiple times
Whew. I’m 100% sure I’m not done. In the past, oh, 6 years or so, I’ve been to a heckuva lot of music festivals and such. The only local act I’ve got here (besides Ookla) is Jackdaw, and that’s just because I’ve seen them so many times. I’m sure there are a zillion local performers I’ve seen once. I’m also likely forgetting people I saw as opening acts. (I’ve got some of them, but not all…)
I went through a period where I was listening to a lot of country. Country performers tend to play at fairs, and the tickets are pretty cheap, hence the extensive country acts I’ve seen.
Then I moved to Buffalo, and discovered the joy that was Darien Lake. My first couple of years here, there were a lot of cheap Darien Lake shows. I saw Journey/Foreigner/REO Speedwagon/Styx in various combinations at Darien Lake.
Also not included here, the various groups/singers I’ve seen at the filk conventions I’ve gone to with Rand over the past two years.
That’s a lot of music. 😉
ETA: Thanks, Jen…for reminding me of all those bands that I just added! 🙂
As I told Emma, I’ve seen George Carlin & Fleetwood Mac. Granted I was in Row N for FM, so close I could tell what color polish Stevie had on and Lindsay was HAWT.
Don’t forget: we went to that Koko Taylor concert, too! Near the Lucy museum…
Hmmm. I may do a post myself with my own prodigous list, though being me I’ll probably annotate it with lengthy observations about each show. (Like how in retrospect the reason Steve Earle didn’t impress me much in 1989 was likely because he was in his heavy-using, pre-prison period. He blew me away in 2004, though …)
Though before I do the annotated post (surely not tonight and probably not tomorrow), I’m just going to brainstorm here: Asylum Street Spankers (three times), Bob Dylan (seven times, I think), Bruce Cockburn, Neil Young, Jewel, Afghan Whigs (Jewel and the Whigs were opening for Neil), Steve Earle (twice), Phil Keaggy (four times, once with Randy Stonehill), Carbon Leaf, Lyle Lovett, Emily Slade, Little Johnny England, Ookla the Mok (about a googleplex times, though only two or three times in a club/bar setting), The Fibs, Sting, the Moody Blues, Patty Loveless, Cherish the Ladies, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash (with June Carter and her sisters, naturally), Petra (twice — had a mainstream-Christian rock period awhile back, which also accounts for Glad, DeGarmo & Key and Altar Boys), Alison Krauss & Union Station, BR549, Tietur, Vienna Teng, Abra Moore, Brave Combo, Little Feat, The Samples, Tarbox Ramblers, The Kennedys, Steve Taylor, Resurrection Band, America, Three Dog Night, Deep Purple, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Roger Daltrey, Ronnie McDowell, Lee Greenwood (wasn’t my idea), The Campbell Brothers, The Lonesome Sisters, plus a bevy of Rochester regional artists and lots and lots o’ filkers.
Whew.
Yikes. I wonder if I could do this, but I think you have seen more than me…
Wow.
