Can I have that half hour back?

So we turned on the TV to watch How I Met Your Mother, and instead got live coverage of some sort of police standoff on the 190.

I have been watching this coverage for 20 minutes, and I STILL DON’T KNOW WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING.

They’re replaying (and narrating) how the police took the guy in the truck into custody. But you know what they haven’t done?

THEY HAVEN’T EXPLAINED WHY THERE WAS A STANDOFF IN THE FIRST PLACE.

You know what Channel 4? I haven’t been watching your coverage for the past three hours. I’m just saying, it might be helpful to clue your viewers in every now and then.

And then we join Two and a Half Men in progress. Thanks, Channel 4.

  1. I was listening to this via WIVB at work. I had an entertaining night since I work until 9:30. I’m just glad Medium starts at 10pm.

    The best fun was watching it with coworkers and mocking the newspeople since they were trying to drag this crap out. That was completely unnecessary to have that on TV for 3 hours. This wasn’t the White Bronco chase for God’s sake!

  3. Oh I dunno, a live person with a gun holding it to his head or that of the woman in the car with him or the police or hundreds of people in cars behind the standoff seems quite newsworthy to me. Not newsworthy: it’s snowing here in Buffalo.

    I can imagine there are people who are well, lucky to get out of the situation unharmed, that hardly seems mockable to me. And the white bronco chase was even less newsworthy because it wasn’t local.

    But maybe I’m too sensitive.

  4. Mocking the NEWS PEOPLE who were covering it. I believe you missed a word in my statement.

    Did you actually hear some of their asinine statements? OMIGODWTFBBQ!!!

    If they were rated on that performance for their job or QA they would have FAILED!

    But then again, I see emails from people bitching all day about receiving spam. It takes longer to send the email and headers than it does to delete. I can’t imagine sending over 200 emails to an ISP complaining about every little piece that comes into the inbox.

    Maybe I’m just burned out from the public. I hate customers in every sense even in this pathetic region who sucks up everything to be number one in news ratings.
