We bought a fancy-schmancy new oven. Flat cooktop, convection oven. Woohoo! The one that was left here when we moved in was just getting to be too unreliable. Sears was having a sale (and offering 12 months no interest), so we jumped on it.
It gets delivered Wednesday. Whee!
How do you like electric stove tops?
I’ve used gas stove tops since I moved out of my parents’ house, and I don’t think I could go back to electric.
The usual reasons I give people are:
1) when it’s hot, it’s hot – you don’t have to wait for it to warm up, and it cools down faster (maybe that’s not true of modern electric stoves, I don’t know)
2) when I adjust the flame height, I can control the heat very precisely
3) natural gas is usually less expensive than electricity (but I suppose that could change back and forth a few times during the lifetime of a stove)
I much prefer gas… grew up using gas, and other than in college, I had gas stoves until I moved in with Rand. However, our house actually doesn’t have gas hookups. (Our heat is electric as well.) In light of that, the flat cooktop is a nice compromise. While not as good as gas, the new cooktop heats much more evenly and is more easily controlled than the old one.
