On Saturday, we attended the wedding of Kelly and Ben. Kelly is a long-time friend-of-Ookla.

Kelly walked down the aisle to this bit, from the Muppets Take Manhattan:

Miss Piggy:

He’ll stand beside me
And now I’m everything.
Kermit:
She’ll make me happy
Each time I hold her

Audience (with sobbing heard):

And oh my lord…did I cry. I’m the dorkiest dork in dorkville. 😉

Then, instead of the traditional “who gives this woman” spiel, the officiant said something like this:

Others would ask, at this time, who gives the bride in marriage, but, as a woman is not property to be bought and sold, given and taken, I ask simply if she comes of her own will and if she has her family’s blessing.

Kelly said that she did, and then her father said something (although I can’t remember what) that made me cry again.

The ceremony was lovely. It included a handfasting ritual:

And during the handfasting, Rand and Adam played Home, which is an incredibly sweet love song, no matter what Adam says… 😉

After the ceremony, we ate, and then Rand and Adam played a short set. I caught this candid of the bride and groom while they were doing Tiberius Rising.

I thought it was a beautiful wedding. Kelly looked fantastic, and they both looked so genuinely happy and in love. Congrats, Kelly and Ben!

Okay…just Sunday night at Nietzsche’s left… 🙂
