Bad news indeed…

From ain’t it cool news:

“Veronica Mars” returns with new episodes on Tuesday, but following February sweeps will disappear again for eight weeks, to be replaced by the reality series “Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll.”

When “Mars” returns with its final five episodes, there apparently will be no final multiepisode story-arc to end its first season on the CW.

This does not bode well.

I’m not up-to-date yet–I just watched the season 3 opener–so I can’t speak as to whether season 3 is good or not. But ending the season with five stand-alone episodes? This show is all about the multiepisode story arc.

  1. This is all about getting viewers. CW feels if there isn’t so much backstory for every single episode, casual viewers will tune in, not feel so lost…and stick around.

I agree that it sucks, but if it provides us with a fourth season? I’ll suffer through…

And I’m sorry…hiatus for Pussycat Dolls? Wow…I can actually *feel* my IQ dropping.

  2. Yeah, another mid-season interruption sucks. Season three I don’t think has been as good as 1 and 2, but I’ve enjoyed parts of it. I think the CW Web site has all of S3 available for free streaming if you want to catch up.

  3. I think Season 3 has been better than 2, and I love the shorter story arcs. I wasn’t a faithful view of either S1 or 2 because I felt lost and confused if I didn’t catch every episode.

I Netflixed both Season 1 & 2, and that is when I became a true VM fan!

And seriously, Pussycats Dolls? Isn’t that a sign of a coming Armageddon?

  4. I’ve started watching the 3rd season through iTunes. I have the three latest episodes on TiVo.

C-I started watching 1&2 through Netflix, but ended up buying both seasons! I can definitely see where it would have been frustrating for a casual viewer.

    And I know…Pussycat Dolls. WTF?
