I’m a South park character!
Hee hee.
I had tried one of these character generator thingies a long time ago, but this one gave me a much better result than I got before.
I did Rand, too!
And I learned how to do screenshots. Yes, I’m slow. But I’m learning. 😉
Anywho, I got the idea from Debbie’s Blathering, where she posted a link to a friend’s blog. Said friend had created characters for Debbie and her husband (and others).
Reminder–Ookla at Mohawk Place this Sunday!
Show at 7 pm.
My original post here.
More info on the Ookla website.
Come out and see Ookla! And me! and Tom Hanks’ brother!

Catching up
Sometimes I feel like I’ll never be caught up. There’s always so much to do, and so little time to do it…
I’ve got papers to grade from all of my classes. That’s a lot of papers. 😛
I’m way behind on the TV watching this week. I did manage to watch both Lost and Veronica Mars last night, but there’s still Heroes, Studio 60, The Office and Scrubs to watch. Okay, I guess that’s not so bad…
A day of subbing in a classroom with a student teacher got me some time to read (when I should have been grading papers. Oops.). I also read the first issue of the Gunslinger comic. It was great, but I’m thinking of waiting until it’s collected to read the rest. It’s a little on the expensive side for a comic. At any rate, the art is fantastic, and writer Peter David did a wonderful job of capturing the voice.
Valentine’s Day was lovely. Rand and I went low-key and had a nice dinner at Taste of India (by far one of my most favorite restaurants around). This was a good choice because it was not at all busy. I liked that. It certainly beat being sick, like last year!
Valentine’s Day barbershoppers
I was subbing at a middle school today, and during one of my free periods toward the end of the day, I heard…singing.
I went out into the hall to see what it was, and one of the teachers was being serenaded by this barbershop quartet. It attracted quite a crowd. 😉
Hope you are all having a lovely Valentine’s Day, whether or not you’re being serenaded. 😉
Weekend stuff
Among other things, like laundry and cleaning, I spent some time this weekend futzing around with the book blog. New template, using the default “book” header image until I come up with something better. I’m having a hard time getting the links to play nice (for some reason, they won’t divide into link categories. Is it just a problem with the template, or is there a way to fix it?), but otherwise, I’m pretty happy with the template.
I think the blog needs a new name, since I’m going for a YA focus. Unfortunately, I’m notoriously bad at naming things. Suggestions would be most welcome.
I finished reading Hey Nostradamus, but I’m not going to write about it until after the book club meeting. I also finished Anatomy of a Boyfriend (link to my review on the book blog). And of course, I read Eden’s manuscript. I should have been doing more working and less reading, but I couldn’t help myself… 😉
I continue to plug along with Project 365. I may not always post the photos on my blog, but they’ll always be there in my flickr set.
And finally, a big congratulations to my friends Mary and Rob, who welcomed a baby boy into the world last Thursday night!
Okay, I’ve got work to do. Happy Monday!
UPOP
I finished reading Eden’s new novel today. It’s brilliant, and it made me cry, just like her first novel. 😉
I wish I could have taken a photo of myself weeping as I finished reading it. That would have been pretty cool…
Car update
I took my car into a shop near my place on Friday…I found out that the problem wasn’t the alternator after all. The problem was, apparently, a wiring short that was causing a slow drain on my battery.
The guy called around to get a price on the part that would need to be replaced. No one has it locally, so it would have to be ordered. It’s $130. He said he could temporarily solve the problem by pulling the fuse that controls my dome light.
I said go ahead. I’ll live without a dome light for a while.
However, when I picked up the car, I learned that this fuse also affects my radio. 🙁 So I don’t know what to do…I mean, how long can I live without a radio in my car?
Silly quizziness
As seen on All Things Jennifer.

ETA: Interesting. Rand somehow took this quiz while we were eating breakfast together. I wonder how that happened…can anyone enlighten me?
Promotion
My good friend Eden has been a busy girl.
First, she updated the Toasted Cheese Cafe Press shop. This is one of the new items. I ordered one:
A bit of shameless self-promotion…all proceeds benefit Toasted Cheese, which is entirely run by volunteers. Including me, of course. 😉
And second, she finished her new novel! Go tell her how cool she is. Oh, and buy some stuff too. 😉
