Whooooo are you?

I’m passing some brief idle time this evening reading my stats, which I haven’t done in a shockingly long time.

I’m very curious as to who’s reading me in Byrnedale, PA…

A selection of recent searches that brought you here:

  • erin go blog
  • ommmm
  • erin engagement
  • important, impordant
  • rendezvous and im through with you
  • bellsnickle

Are you a new reader? Or a longtime reader who hasn’t commented? Drop me a line…I’d love to hear from you! 🙂

Ack!

Starting tomorrow, I’m a busy, busy girl…new teacher orientation tomorrow, followed by two days of inservice. Friday off, Monday holiday. Tuesday inservice. Wednesday…school starts!

Holy crap. 😉

I saw my mom on Saturday. She and her friend came up for the day, and we did a bit of dress shopping (no buying, just looking!). We stopped in at the shop where Rand bought my ring and talked to the ladies there. I wanted to let them know how happy (and surprised!) I was. (It’s Sarah’s Vintage and Estate Jewelry on Main Street in Williamsville.  They’re awesome.) Then we had dinner at Brennan’s. I had a Clancy. Yum!

We saw Rand’s parents on Sunday, which was also very nice. 🙂

Today, I met up with Susan for lunch. I hadn’t seen her in quite a while, so that was fun!

And that’s about all my excitement for the moment…I’m guessing posting will be light over the next couple of days.

Buffalo Blogtoberfest

blogtoberfest

Sadly, I’m not sure I’m going to be able to make it…I think I’ve got a family commitment that weekend. We’ll see!

Thanks to Jen 14221 for creating the nifty flyer. You can contact the other Jen (allthingsjennifer AT yahoo DOT com) to RSVP.

Blogging-by-mail

bbm package

Over the weekend, I received my blogging-by-mail package from Audrey at Rouge Tomate.

It’s just full of tasty treats! I still haven’t opened the VERY yummy looking chocolate with dried cranberries. Mmmm… I also got a selection of Coffee Crisp bars, tea, maple caramel (sounds tasty!), some Les Citrons candies and Hoisin sauce. Audrey also included a recipe for sour cream coffee cake that looks fantastic. Thanks, Audrey!

Michelle at Our Full House received the package I sent her, which I had lots of fun putting together! I got all ambitious and made cupcakes. I was worried about mailing them, but I guess they made it there okay!

I individually wrapped them in cling wrap, then packed them into a gladware container with packing peanuts!

This is so much fun. Thanks again, Stephanie!

It’s too hot

And I’ve been away from my computer a lot, hence the light posting this week…

I had a nice afternoon with Jen and Samantha yesterday.

I got my car inspected, and of course, I didn’t get away without having anything done. I can’t remember the last time my car passed inspection. This time it was the brakes, and I got off fairly cheap. I do think I need an alignment, though, because my brake pads are wearing unevenly…

Other than that, I’ve been running around like a crazy person, between teaching and various appointments and meeting with friends and yoga class…and, uh, you get the picture.

Rand and I saw The Simpsons Movie, which was enjoyable. I didn’t go into it expecting anything earth-shattering. It was funny. I laughed. 😉 I can’t stop singing “Spider-Pig.” (no he can’t, ’cause he’s a pig…)

I went to the movie website (link above) and created this avatar:

Limited options, so it doesn’t really look all that much like me.

Anywhoo, hope you’re all managing to keep cool!

To days of inspiration

inspirationalblogger

Kelly at Byzantium Shores has bestowed upon me the honor of “inspirational blogger.” His blog inspires me greatly, and I need to acknowledge that before I go on to name my own inspirational bloggers. I love the way Kelly puts words together. He has made me laugh, made me cry, and made me think, and I’m very happy to know him.

And now…

I’ve mentioned her before, but Seanan McGuire never fails to inspire me. She’s a writer, musician, artist and all-around cool chick. She writes posts like this one, among other things.

Create a Connection is a sort of community of creative bloggers, created and hosted by Melba. I find a tremendous amount of inspiration there.

My dear friend Stephanie has a food blog, and I always find myself inspired by the incredible-looking treats she posts there!

Eden inspires me in different ways all the time, whether it’s by writing a fantastic novel that makes me cry, being one of the coolest, hippest moms on the planet, or just being brazenly, unabashedly herself.

And finally, Jen.  Jen puts her heart and soul into everything she does like no one I’ve ever known, and she puts it all out there for the world to see.

Now, go forth and inspire! Or be inspired! Or, y’know, some combination of the two…

Feelin’ loved

This week, I’m finding myself feeling especially loved…first, my dear friend Stephanie wrote this lovely post that made me cry–in a good way, of course! (Warning…Stephanie’s blog hasn’t been playing nice with firefox for me. I don’t know if it’s just me, or if it’s a larger problem…)

And then, Kelly at Byzantium’s Shores tagged me as an “Inspirational Blogger.” I think this means I need to tag some inspirational bloggers of my own, which I will do. Later. Just add it to the list. 😉

I’m gonna go bask in the warm fuzzies now…

Postings elsewhere

I posted a short “getting ready for Harry Potter” post here.

There are some new 27 posts here.

And I’ve got some writing tips here and here.

Enjoy!

Ooh, pass the popcorn…

One of my favorite bloggers is SF writer John Scalzi. When John isn’t posting photos of his cat, he’s frequently snarking about something in the media.

John recently wrote about a piece in The Guardian (more here) in which the author (Ben Myers) whines about how teh Intarweb makes writers lazy, or something.

Ben commented on John’s post (his comment included the insult “hideous arse candles, which, as more than one reader pointed out, would make an excellent name for a rock band), and then John wrote a post grading his snark. (He got a C-). MediaBistro has picked up on the fun, and there are hundreds of entertaining comments to read.
